Today was a bit different to most days! We had an Egyptian Day, which involved an Archaeologist actor visiting school and teaching us all about the Ancient Egyptians including mummification, artefacts and Pharaohs and Gods.
We spent the morning imagining that we were archaeologists and explored artefacts. We considered the difference between real and genuine artefacts and looked through magnifying glasses to spot the replicas and real items. We carried out role plays, imagining that we were ancient Egyptian workers, finding tombs and got into character as Howard Carter to explore how he felt when he found Tutankhamun’s tomb.
In the afternoon we leant all about the mummification process by acting it out and we each had a different part to play. Jake, Calum, Ellie and Ella made excellent mummies and stayed very still! The Year 4 children came to watch our presentation of how people were mummified.
It was an excellent day, crammed with information, facts and fun!
