On Monday, to celebrate Roald Dahl Day we carried out a variety of activities. These activities were mostly focused around the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
We spent the morning looking at how Roald Dahl created such interesting characters and then we created our own characters, but they had to be mean and nasty! We used Dahl’s characters for inspiration, such as Veruca Salt and Violet Beauregarde.
After that, we planned our own Golden Ticket hunt and then had some fun with chocolate, which included having a Maltesers race! It was only right that we included some chocolate in our day when reading a book like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! The children went to great efforts with their costumes and the Year 3 teachers would like to say thank you to parents and children for their efforts, it really made the whole day one to remember.
Overall, we had a really fun day and it was summed up perfectly when one of the Year 3 boys said “This day just keeps getting better and better!”
The girls enjoyed being Veruca Salt for the day!
